Reimbursement

If the Board decides your claim merits reimbursement, you will receive an agreement (an Assignment) to sign. The Assignment transfers to the Board your right to recover from your former lawyer the amount of the reimbursement.

Approximately three weeks after you return the signed Assignment to our office, we will send the award check to you by certified mail.

The Board may then attempt to recover money from the former lawyer in any way the Board considers appropriate. The Assignment also requires that you repay the Clients’ Security Fund if your former lawyer ever pays any restitution to you.
