The United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts has awarded David R. Chenelle, the Chair of the Clients’ Security Board of the Supreme Judicial Court, the 2021 District of Massachusetts Pro Bono Award. Click here. The award recognizes an individual who has made a substantial commitment to pro bono service worthy of public recognition throughout the District. Citing his significant pro bono work over more than 25 years, the Court commended Attorney Chenelle’s work as a commissioner where he assisted the former clients of a bankruptcy lawyer who had left his practice in disarray to obtain their files, find new counsel, and file claims with the Clients’ Security Board. In another case he also assisted multiple clients of a suspended lawyer to obtain successor pro bono counsel and to seek reimbursement of their unearned fees from the Clients’ Security Board. Attorney Chenelle practices with the firm of Perkins & Anctil P.C. of Westford, Massachusetts, and has served as a CSB member since June 2018, and as Chair since February 2020.
